 Making the Money

After paper money is designed, the design is sent to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to be engraved onto a plate. The single plate is then reproduced many times onto a much larger plate that can print multiple bills at once. The plate is covered with ink and then pressed onto the paper.
What is Money Made Of? While most paper used for items such as newspapers and books is primarily made of wood pulp, money is made out of speacial  75% cotton and 25% linen. Produced by Crane Currency in Dalton, Massachusetts, this paper is made specifically for the BEP – and only for the BEP
Cotton fibre contains fibre called linen and banknotes are made from cotton paper which is a mix of 75 percent of cotton and 25 percent of linen. After this formula is made, cotton is mixed with a gelatin adhesive solution that makes them last longer.
Where RBI prints money?
Four printing presses actively print notes: Dewas in Madhya Pradesh, Nasik in Maharashtra, Mysore in Karnataka, and Salboni in West Bengal. The Dewas and Nasik presses are owned by the Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India (SPMCIL), a wholly owned company of the Government of India.
4 The Reserve Bank has the right to print currency up to 10,000 rupee notes. However, if the Reserve Bank wants to print anything higher, the government must amend the Reserve Bank of India Act.
